clean shower block with good hot water supply. pleasant, helpful owners. pitches all level dogs are welcome but must be on lead due to the free-range chickens which wander around and supply the eggs which you can buy for your breakfast! pretty we’ve just returned after a 3 night stay at this pretty site. the shower block was clean and there was plenty of hot water. i do agree with a previous review and getting over the road to walk dogs could be a bit of a challenge as the road wasn’t always busy but when cars did use it they came down at speed and also the steps to get up to the riverbank weren’t paw friendly as they had big gaps in them. it could be advised that the site sign could be further up the road to warn you that you’re approaching the entrance, rather than the current sign that is upon the entrance and if you were towing a caravan and missed the turning you would struggle to find a place to turn around. we will return again to this site as its well kept and a credit to the owners who have worked hard to get it were it is today quiet campsite my wife and i stayed over the bank holiday weekend. brilliant, what a quiet campsite! next to the river almost, (you need to cross the road but although not busy cars do whizz along so look both ways, luckily you can see a long way either direction) so we took our inflatable kayaks and got a good afternoons kayaking in. the food places nearby are ok for food but we thought that the indian restaurant that the campsite mentions on their noticeboards was excellent. a short drive away is ely, the cathedral is magnificent for it’s sheer size, beauty and the fact it is older than almost every building you have ever visited. when the market is on it is large and worth having a mooch around. back to the campsite. everyone we met and spoke to were polite and helpful and friendly but they only interact mutually and otherwise leave you to your own devices so it was bliss. also, because it is adults only there is no excess noise that the little ones generate, sheer bliss! to put it how my wife said ‘we are definitely coming back here again!’ and i agreed. camping weekend a well appointed, quiet camping and caravan site in a perfect location for exploring the fens, ely and cambridge. this is not a site for families with small children. however, the proximity of the river (100 metres away) for fishing and boating, some good walks from the site (can recommend the riverside walk into ely) and a good range of pubs, food outlets and even a railway station within walking distance of the site make this a great place for a short break. lovely campsite with friendly welcome we stayed for four nights in april. we found the place to be friendly, clean, and with plenty of information for places to eat etc. the river is opposite the entrance to the site and a short stroll away is the local pub, the swan on the river, where we enjoyed a drink one day and also a meal on another. ely itself which is a few miles away is lovely and well worth a visit to see the cathedral and for a walk along the picturesque riverside. we hope to return there soon. weekend break very nice quiet site and very clean and well looked after. if all sites were as good as this one, there would be no need for reviews. nice stroll to local riverside pub that welcomes dogs too, perfect place, we will be back. wonderful, no children allowed we had a wonderful weekend here. staff are very friendly and helpful. site is clean and tidy grass pitches are great for tents and very even. the campsite is quiet, the only noise is a couple of trains every now and then and of course the bird song. we will definitely come again as there are no children allowed, its wonderful. the site is well situated near the eating establishments. a big thank you for a great stay. well laid out site with plenty of room between pitches just by the river this could almost be the shortest review as this campsite has everything “just as it should be” from clean facilities to well maintained pitches with a friendly welcome. it is “rural” but that’s also to it’s benefit as is the lovely pub just a very short walk across the bridge for food and drinks. definitely noted this site for a return visit. tranquil we wanted a quiet site for our second trip out in our little caravan, not too far from our home in bedfordshire and riverside seemed to tick all the boxes. upon arrival we were greeted by the owner, very friendly, who booked us in and asked us to follow her to our pitch. as we drove through, following her on her bicycle, we were really impressed at how lovely the site was kept. we got to our pitch in a lovely grassed area amongst some other caravans and set the up. everything was clean, tidy, well kept and quiet! the toilet and shower blocks were very clean and in a good way, welcoming. hook up was right next to the caravan and fresh water about 20 yards away. even the roaming chickens were quiet! we went up the road and across the bridge in the evening to the swan on the river for a glorious meal. all in all, a superb stay was had and we will definitely go back again. the site is beautiful and quiet with plenty of opportunities for walking by the river, a visit to the local towns or just chilling out. with a beer or three. © 2018 riverside caravan and camping park | designed by npwebservices
